​The Punahou JROTC program was founded in 1918 and currently maintains Honor Unit with Distinction, the highest award given to an Army JROTC unit. The program is led by Lieutenant Colonel Bob Takao. This year marks the 104th anniversary of the program.

​The United States Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) was created in 1916 as a result of the passage of the National Defense Act. This program teaches students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity through a constructive and disciplined learning environment.
